IS THANKSGIVING THE BEST CYCLE DIET DAY OF THE YEAR?
If you have been keeping up with the Never Bulk Again series, then you are familiar with the Cycle Diet. If not, go back and check out part 6. I go over the details of how to set up the Cycle Diet. Why is the Cycle Diet so effective? Because you don’t waste any time building muscle. You don’t have to take a break from getting bigger and stronger by staying in a diet deficit for an unnecessary amount of time. Is Thanksgiving the best Cycle Diet Day of the year? I think so, if you don’t make it Thanksgiving Friday, and then Thanksgiving Weekend. However, there are some things that you can do to make the day even more successful. Let’s take a further look at some of those things that can help.
Cycle Diet vs. Cycle Diet Days
The usual Cycle Diet calls for you to eat a surplus of calories for 2-3 weeks and then go into a caloric deficit for 2-3 weeks. However, if you want to switch things up a bit, or you feel like your strength is down, you may want to add a Cycle Diet Day during you 2-3 caloric deficit. This one day of a surplus can serve two purposes. It can jump start your metabolism, and it can refill your muscles’ glucose stores. A few days after your Cycle Diet Day, you should notice that you appear tighter, and leaner. If you don’t, then you didn’t need a Cycle Diet Day, and you should continue your caloric deficit for two more weeks. If you do look fuller and leaner, then continue with your planned caloric surplus period.
Glucose Disposal Agents and Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday. The food that my family prepares is amazing. Casseroles, ham, turkey, pies, cakes, you get the picture. Thanksgiving can also serve as a Cycle Diet Day. And if you want to make the day even more effective, then I suggest using a GDA, or Glucose Disposal Agent.
The great thing about GDAs is that they allow the surplus of calories you eat to work more towards muscle growth and recovery. GDAs help shuttle the carbs from your meals into the glucose stores of your muscles. This increase in glucose will provide you with more energy, and even better pumps. If you can work out the day after Thanksgiving, and you have used a GDA the day before, look out gym!
The Cycle Diet is a great way to build muscle and burn fat at the same time. When used properly, your workouts will get better, and you will continue to build muscle throughout the year. If you feel like you are losing energy or feel a little flat, then try adding a Cycle Diet Day during your deficit period. It might just be exactly what your body needs.
