A plant-based molecule called Rauwolscine is used to promote fat loss & physical performance. It may also improve sexual function, but no clinical evidence has been found to support these claims. Rauwolfia and Pausinystalia are the two plant groups that produce Rauwolscine. Alpha yohimbine and isoyohimbine are also names for this compound. The structure of rauwolscine is very similar to that of yohimbie

The yohimbe plant (Pausinystalia johimbe) contains alkaloids called rauwolscine and yohimbine, which are used traditionally as stimulants and aphrodisiacs. It appears that rauwolscine has similar effects as yohimbine but may be more potent and have other benefits. Yohimbine and rauwolscine are both mainly taken for fat loss, improving physical performance, and enhancing libido and sexual performance. These two substances are common ingredients in pre-workout supplements.

How does it work?

The sympathetic nervous system is mainly controlled by norepinephrine and epinephrine as adrenaline. Their activity is known as adrenergic. In comparison with yohimbine, Rauwolscine more selectively blocks alpha-2 adrenergic receptors.

The brain and other parts of the body contain alpha-2 receptors. Mildly activated, they counteract the stress response; they calm the heart and mind. Because of this, rauwolscine may elevate heart rate and act as a stimulant; this is also why it may trigger anxiety. Alpha-2 receptors can stimulate the stress response and raise blood pressure when strongly activated. That’s why rauwolscine can also help you cope with anxiety and stress. There is some conflicting information that generally comes down to the end users of the product. The activation of Alpha-2 hinders fat burning and insulin release. The blockage of Rauwolscine may boost fat burning and insulin levels. Rauwolscine blocks alpha-2 receptors and increases norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine levels while decreasing serotonin levels. Stimulant effects are further enhanced by this chemical shift.

The alpha-2 receptors in rauwolscine may block fat burning as they do in yohimbine. Apparently, both activate the fight-or-flight response, which mobilizes fats from stores and uses them as fuel. One-third the dose of Rauwolscine produced similar effects to that of yohimbine in studies. Research suggests that it may support fat loss by suppressing appetite.

Traditional use of Rauwolscine include lowering blood pressure. The effect of this compound is derived from another compound called reserpine. Reduces fight-or-flight activity by lowering the levels and release of norepinephrine from neurons.

It is clear why this ingredient is very widespread in nutritional supplements.  It can be found in Chaos and Products list below.
